Focusing on overseas market development by launching upgraded products Robotus, a specialized robot development company, attracts attention as a force torque sensor
Nov 01, 2021, 03:55
Robotus Co., Ltd. develops and supplies a force torque sensor, a core component of collaborative robots and industrial robots. The demand for force torque sensors, a core component of robot automation, is rapidly increasing thanks to the rapid increase in the supply of cooperative robots and the proliferation of smart factories for manufacturing innovation.
The 6-axis force-torque sensor supplied by Robotus is a sensor product that detects force and torque components in space to measure the action force with the work target in the robot automation process. By measuring the force torque, it is possible to evaluate the quality of work or to advance the robot application work such as pressing, assembling, grinding, and inspection through force control.
Robotus has completed the development of a medium-sized model (RFT80) and a small model (RFT64) with upgraded performance and enhanced durability compared to the existing standard model, and is in the process of supplying it. The new product improves durability by implementing an overload capability of up to 300% of the rating, and strengthens environmental resistance to ensure accurate measurement in various environments through the application of a temperature compensation algorithm. EtherCAT communication, which is provided in the form of an external board, is built into the sensor to ensure both ease of use and economy. Despite the increase in the structural rigidity of the force torque sensor, performance was maintained and the force torque resolution improved.
Robotus has prepared work and test standards for each model to improve the production capacity and quality control capability of the force torque sensor, and is conducting process capability evaluation and analysis through small-scale pilot production. In addition, the company established a quality mass production system by going through the mass production parts approval process (PSO/PPAP) for the entire production process, from sub-contractor management, parts receipt inspection, assembly and shipment inspection, and packaging.
In the future, as Robotus is expected to smarten the compression, assembly, and inspection processes using force torque sensors centering on manufacturing lines such as smartphones, displays, and secondary batteries, a rapid growth in sales of force torque sensors in the industry is expected. With the launch of the upgraded product, Robotus plans to focus all its capabilities on developing overseas markets based on a high cost-effectiveness and quality production system.
Robotus, established in 2004, is a robot development and manufacturing company, supplying core parts for supercomputers to IBM in the United States, and producing the RFT Series, a force torque sensor for robots, in Korea. Robotus supples products not only to the major companies in Korea like Doosan, Hanhwa, Samsung but also to the Defense Agency for Defense Weapons and some major global companies.
