Tap Electronics has signed an investment agreement with Daegu City along with water-related IT companies Yusol and Gaam Tech. According to the agreement, these companies will spend a total of 23.7 billion won to equip the 14,082㎡ site of the water industry cluster to develop water-related core technologies.
Tap Electronics, headquartered in Seongnam, Gyeonggi-do, will build a manufacturing plant and relocate its headquarters by investing KRW 4 billion on a site of 3361 square meters within the water industry cluster.
Daegu City has decided to help the administrative support necessary for moving into the contracting company and business activities, such as providing a site for construction of manufacturing facilities within the national water industry cluster, preferential use of cluster facilities, high-tech research and development (R&D), and entry into overseas markets.
In particular, with this investment, it is expected that the water industry cluster will become a hub for technology convergence, export platform development, and entry into new markets in harmony with the traditional water industry and high-tech IT companies.
The mayor of Daegu City said, “We will support the three water companies investing this time to grow into world-class companies, together with the National Water Industry Cluster and Water Technology Certification Institute.”
The Daegu National Water Industry Cluster, which was completed last year, attracted 31 water companies, including the three this time, and showing a sale rate of about 54%. Among the attracting companies, 10 companies including Lotte Chemical have already completed construction, and 3 are currently under construction. All other companies will start construction within this year.
Meanwhile, Tap Electronics, established in 1984, has been developing and manufacturing CCTV camera inspection systems for water and sewage pipes to support and develop the clean water business.
