The Korean leading medical device company, BNR introduced to Europe European market fascinated by Korean medical devices
Aug 31, 2020, 05:05
Founded in 2003, a Korean medical device manufacturer, BNR was established by research and development teams in the field of chemical products and automobile parts. In 2004, it succeeded in localizing 'TROCAR' which is a product used in endoscopic surgery and is replacing expensive imported medical devices at reasonable prices.
Based on this, in June 2004, it received a medical device manufacturing business license and started producing medical devices, taking the lead in localizing and high-quality laparoscopic equipment in the medical device market. It is continuing its growth by acting as a reasonable alternative to the domestic laparoscopic surgical instrument market, where only foreign products existed before.
Laparoscopy has the advantage of having a small incision, less scarring and less bleeding, a much shorter recovery time than open surgery, and much less pain after surgery, so it quickly replaced open surgery.
Currently, laparoscopic surgery is widespread in most medical institutions, but the occurrence of side effects can be prevented in advance only when the peritoneal tissue is accurately sutured at the end of the surgery. The preference for laparoscopic surgery is rapidly increasing due to problems such as infection stability, cost, recovery time, and scar. Expectations are high in that it is possible to create repeated demand due to the wasteful (one-off) nature of laparoscopic surgical instruments.
In 2019, a Korean medical device manufacturer, BNR introduced its products at a gathering of major European medical device buyers. The Korea Medical Device Industry Cooperative attended the annual meeting of the European Medical Device Distributors Alliance (EMDDA) held in Prague, Czech Republic. EMDDA is an association of medical device import and distribution companies in 12 countries in Europe. Through meetings twice a year, EMDDA shares information on new medical devices that are marketable among member companies.
There are three Korean companies invited in 2019, and one of them is BNR. The participation of Korean companies at the EMDDA annual meeting was also made at the request of EMDDA, strengthening cooperation since the union signed an MOU with EMDDA in November 2017. The union said, "We will strive to strengthen cooperation with EMDDA and continue to support Korean companies entering the European market."
BNR CEO Bae Sang-Cheol said, “By sequentially developing disposable surgical devices for laparoscopy that are imported from overseas, we are striving to reduce medical costs through high-quality localization and to contribute to the development of the national medical industry. In the future, we will continue to listen to more customers' opinions and continue to develop new technologies for medical devices and to become a sample of medical devices around the world.”
Currently, BNR is promoting exports to the world, continuing to visit overseas exhibitions, and establishing overseas branches in Asia.
