As the Pokemon GO caused a sensation around the world, the public's interest in Augmented Reality increased rapidly. Japan also created an application named 'Spot Message' that uses GPS location-based information to bring back the dead.
Investors started to find software developers that can deal with the emerging AR business ideas.
Cellbig is the largest AR technology company in Korea and it is founded in 2004. The strength of Cellbig is that Cellbig can make it all, from tangible hardware to the interface that connects the hardware with software. If the platform changes, there are many things that need to be developed, but Cellbig has the ability and know-how to do this without problems.
In 2009, Cellbig received international attention with developing a 'Tour De Star' that directly manipulates games by riding a bicycle. In 2010, Cellbig developed an AR game called ‘Hometown Adventure’, which searches for Chinese characters at some graves. This is about 5 years ahead of the popular AR game 'Pokemon GO'.
Cellbig's representative AR game is 'Sandcraft'. The sensational AR game, Sandcraft, is a device that can enjoy various games by recognizing the height difference of the sand touched by the user as a sensor.
According to CEO, Sang-ro Lee, the world started to paid attention to SandCraft. Cellbig already signed an exclusive distributorship agreement with Suntree in China and a system sales contract in North America with System Ku in the United States. A partnership agreement in Japan is underway with Bandai Namco Entertainment, which is famous for games such as 'Tekken' and 'Dragon Ball'.
Mr. Lee is confident that he will be renowned as a leading developer of VR (Virtual Reality) platforms as well as AR, based on the technology he has accumulated over the past 12 years. He said that there is no domestic company like Cellbig with that technology.
